HUN-REN Data Repository Platform

Get started

Welcome at the HUN-REN Data Repository Platform!

The HUN-REN Data Repository Platform (ARP for short) provides for the digital, long-term and secure storage as well as accessibility and searchability of research data offering a wide range of facilities and services for users.

If you want to search, download or upload data or wish to create a repository for your research data in the ARP Data Repository, you can do so as described below.

Search and download research data

Search for research data

If you want to search for research data or browse research data in the ARP Data Repository, there are two ways to do this.

For basic information searches in the ARP's own data repository, use the ARP Data Repository Search. The search can be started from the Search in the Repository text box or from the Advanced Search menu on the ARP Data Repository home page (repo.researchdata.hu).

If you want to search for more detailed information and/or also in other ARP-related data repositories (University of Debrecen Data Repository, HUN-REN TK Research Documentation Centre, Zenodo), use the ARP Federated Search. The search can be started from the main page of the ARP Federated Search (search.researchdata.hu) or from the Query menu.

Both search services are available to all interested parties without registration.

Download research data

If you want to download research data from the ARP Data Repository, you can do so under the conditions set by the uploader.

For files that can be downloaded without registration and without restrictions, click on the file you want to download, then select the appropriate method from the Download options list under Access file. When downloading a file, you will be asked to accept the licences associated with the research data and you will be required to comply with these licences when using (sharing, processing, commercializing or referencing) the research data you receive.

For files that require registration, you must first register in the ARP Data Repository, and only then can you download and use the file in the ways and under the conditions described above. (See the section on registration for further instructions.)

For restricted files, you must accept or comply with the restrictions set for that file, and only then can you download and use the desired file in the ways and under the conditions described above. Each uploader has the right to set individual restrictions on the uploaded research data. The content of the individual restriction and the way in which compliance with the restrictive conditions can be verified is also left to the uploader. The fact and content of the restriction and, if there is a possibility to access the file, the procedure to do so will be displayed when opening and/or downloading the file.

For embargoed files, you will have to wait until the embargo has expired and only then will you be able to access the file in one of the ways described above, depending on the file's settings.

  4. If your higher education institution does not already have its own repository in the ARP Data Repository, you can indicate your need for a repository in one of two ways. First, you can contact the management (or the relevant department) of the higher education institution to request an institutional repository. Second, you can directly contact ARP support to request an institutional repository by standing on the home page (repo.researchdata.hu) and clicking on the Contact menu. ARP Operations will then decide on setting up the institutional repository in agreement with the relevant higher education institution.

While standing in your own institutional repository or in one of its sub-repositories, you can request upload access from your institutional admin or the admin of the sub-repository via the Contact menu. Click on the Contact menu item in the pop-up window to send a few lines of text to the admin of the institution or sub-storage facility, who will then grant you the right to upload research data to the appropriate repository or sub-repository, based on the institution's own policy.
